Best time to explore Port Pin
The best time to visit the calanques near Cassis is on the low season because the park won’t be really crowded and won’t be closed due to the risk of fire. In case of going during summer, check out if the park is opened and the timetables because is often closed in case of high temperatures or wind. During September and October is the best season due to the temperatures and the few people there is in the beaches

In Calanque d’En Vau there’s only sun during th morning but during the hike it’s mostly sunny so protect your skin and take enough water.

Drinking Water
During the hike there is no place to fill your reservoir. Take with you all the water you can need or buy it in Cassis.

Most popular trail to the stunning Calanque d’en vau
Exploring the Calanques near Cassis is the most incredible exprience that you can have when visiting Marseille and Calanques National Park. This trail passes by 3 different calanques that are very beautiful starting by Port-Miou. The Calanque de Port-Miou is a small beach with a long port along the calanque. Port Pin is a nice Calanque to have a bath in case that is too late to swim in d’en Vau. Calanque d’en Vau is considered one of the best beaches of the world and many films had been recorded in this paradise.
Walking in Calanques requires to be fit, to take proper boots for hiking due to the harsh and slippery terrain of the paths and not to be afraid of heights because some of the trails are exposed to heights.
Starting the walk in Port-Miou
The hike to Calanque d’En Vau starts in the parking near the Calanque Port-Miou, a small beach with a green-turquoise water. It has a port that goes along the calanque and at the end the water turns to a clear but deep water incredibly beautiful.
The hike goes through a big path and after a hundred of meters it goes up and other small path to the left is indicated to go to Calanque de Port Pin. The path goes quickly down and this part is very slippery due to all the amount of people that walks it.
From Port Pin to the Paradise Calanque
From the other side of Port Pin there is a path marked with a blue color that goes all around the Calanque de Port Pin showing all the beauty of this entrance of water. First the path goes up for 5 minutes and another 5 minutes going down. There is a small path at the end that gets into La Cacau, a small part of land elevated by cliffs from where there are really nice views of the entrance of Calanque d’en Vau and Calanque de Port Pin.
Going few meters back and taking again the path to the west. It goes all the way up to Plateau de Caideron from where there are incredible views of the Paradise of d’en Vau. From here the path goes a bit up and the first path to the left goes directly to the most beautiful calanque, Calanque d’En Vau.
The way back to Cassis
The way back to Cassis is clearly marked and passes back again at the Calanque de Port Pin and Port-Miou.
